PHOENIX, AZ—DECEMBER 10, 2017—Fastest qualifier Cowgirl N Up dominated the field in the $40,280 AQRA-Turf Paradise Quarter Horse Futurity Sunday afternoon when she defeated Skinny Kyni by 1-¼ lengths. Dig Deeper finished a neck back in third.
Cowgirl N Up broke out under jockey Jorge Bourdieu then quickly drew clear of the field to complete the 400 yards in :20.041 seconds, a 90 speed index with a 13 mph tailwind.
Leading trainer Matthew Fales saddled the daughter of top ten second-crop sire Texas Icon for owner/breeder's Ralph and Carolyn Fales.
It was the fourth win (second stakes win) for the Arizona-bred filly out of Secret Return by Canth. She won the Turf Paradise Juvenile Challenge last April then traveled to West Coast and qualified for the Los Alamitos Wild West Futurity. The $20,140 winners' purse today nearly doubled Cowgirl N Up's earnings total to $43,884. She has compiled a (8) 4-1-1 record.
