SUNLAND PARK, NM-FEBRUARY 18, 2018--A Passion For Flashn scored a convincing win in the 26th running of the $85,000 NMHBA Quarter Horse Stakes(RG3) going 400 yards Sunday afternoon at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino.

The bold three-year-old colt by First Moonflash broke alertly and ran a perfect race while racing on the outside of the track. Under jockey Jose Luis Enriquez, A Passion For Flashn won by a length to collect his second career stakes victory.

He won the 2017 New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) at Zia Park last fall.

The impressive sophomore was never headed in the feature for New Mexico-bred three-year-olds. He earned $51,000 for the RC Racing, LLC of Denver City, Texas. The 4-1 shot paid $10 to win. He covered the distance in :19.99 seconds over a 'slow' track with a 6 mph tailwind.

Martin Orona, Sr. trains the winner of nearly $275,000. JMH Racing LLC bred the brown colt from the Streakin Sixes mare Subtly Sixy.

16-1 longshot Siximoons gained momentum late to earn second place. He sparked a $1 exacta worth $75.50.

Wesley Giles conditions the 3-year-old First Moonflash gelding for owners Jerry Bailey and Tres Mesa Horses. Adrian Ramos was aboard the Mike Abraham bred gelding out of Stevie Six by Jumpn. The $17,000 second-place pay check boosted Siximoons earnings total to $65,643.

Last year's Mountain Top Futurity(RG3) winner Daddys Blushing finished third, beaten just over a length, to earn $8,500. Jackie Riddle saddled the Big Daddy Cartel 3-year-old for owner Gary Hartstack. MJ Farms bred Daddys Blushing from the Blushing Bug mare Sandy June Bug. Coming off a second-place effort in the Shue Fly Stakes(RG3) last month, Daddys Blushing has banked more than $235,000.

Shue Fly winner Everybuddys Talkin had a rough start and could never get rolling. She finished seventh as the 2-1 favorite.

Completing the official order of finish were Cadilac Flash 4th, Moneys A Maker 5th, He Be Flashy 6th, Everybuddys Talkin 7th, Regard The Rose 8th, Jessies Gone 9th and Jessa Diva 10th.
