OKLAHOMA CITY, OK--MARCH 14, 2018--Gypsys Last Hero wrapped up his 2017 racing season with an allowance victory at Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. in October.

After a winter freshening, he came back ready to roll on Thursday night at Remington Park, winning a $30,000-level claiming event at 300 yards, gaining late for victory.

Owned by Ernestina Cervantes of Farmington, Ark. and trained by Guillermo Valdivia, Gypsys Last Hero rolled to the score under jockey Larry Payne.

A 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred gelding, Gypsys Last Hero didn’t start cleanly, having contact with Im All About The Bass to his inside. He had to make a rally to run down BV King George, just catching him in the final strides to win by a neck in :15.508 over a fast track.

The win was the third from 19 career start for Gypsys Last Hero who is extremely consistent in the money with seven second-place efforts and five more races finishing in third. The race was worth a total purse of $22,800 with the winner’s share of $12,960 going to Gypsys Last Hero, a son of Valiant Hero from the Sixarun mare Threadbare Gypsysoul. His total earnings now stand at $62,767.
