Lynnder 16 Has Top Time On Night 2 of Remington Park Futurity Trials, Shake Needed For Final Spot

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRL 7, 2018— Lynnder 16 won the first trial of 11 on Saturday at Remington Park and her time for 330 yards stood up for the entire evening as the best.

She and four others from the second night of qualifying will move on to the $934,500 Remington Park Futurity on April 21.

Owned by the Pierre, S.D. partnership of Tom Maher and Dick Tobin, Lynnder 16 is trained by Jason Olmstead and was ridden to a two-length victory by Cristian Esqueda. Lynnder 16 crossed the finish in :16.789 over a fast track. There was a very light tailwind of just nine miles per hour for the Lynnder 16 trial win.

An Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old filly by leading sire Apollitical Jess from the Corona Cartel mare Tinys Corona Queen, Lynnder 16 was bred by James and Marilyn Helzer. A sister to the graded stakes-placed Rattle N Battle, she won her career debut in her trial.

Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate Watah Flash veered in under jockey Alfredo Triana, Jr. in the closing trial before roaring to a 1-¾ length win for trainer Brian Muse. The sorrel colt clocked a :16.845 time into a 5-mph crosswind to get the third fastest time on Saturday.

Lane & Sons Cattle Company purchased the son of champion sire First Moonflash in the September sale for $46,000. Steve Holt bred the colt from the Shazoom mare Lotawatch. Also getting his first win in two starts, Watah Flash is a half-brother to Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Futurity winner and second-crop sire Lota Pyc.
