LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 22, 2018—Perfect FDD delivered a sizzling :12.10 drill on Saturday, April 14, the fastest from among the 27 freshman runners that posted works. Here are profiles of many of the top young runners from a very good morning of works.

SATURDAY, APRIL 14

Perfect FDD (California-bred colt by First Down Dash out of Corona Perfection) Posted the bullet drill among the 2-year-old that worked this morning of :12.1 from the inside post. His dam was a two-time allowance winner, who also won her 2002 La Primera Del Ano Derby trial. Corona Perfection ran in the La Primera final and was third in the Blushing By Handicap. As a broodmare, Corona Perfection has produced three-time Grade 1 winner Louisiana Senator ($600k) and Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity finalist Jess Charming. She’s also the dam of Perfect Eagle, winner of an allowance race at Los Alamitos on April 21.

Stel Eagle Friends (California-bred colt by Stel Corona out of Eagles Bet) worked evenly with Fahrenheit when going from inside post in :12.2. His dam was unraced. His granddam is Better Bet On Me, the winner of the 1996 Grade 2 La Primera Del Ano Derby and over $92,000.

Fahrenheit (California-bred colt by Walk Thru Fire out of A Reason To Run) worked evenly with Stel Eagle Friends when going from outside post is :12.2. Fahrenheit is a half-brother to 2013 La Pacifica Handicap winner and La Primera Del Ano Derby runner-up Feature Malinche and half-brother to 2014 La Primera Del Ano Derby runner-up Nefertity. Fahrenheit’s granddam is Tom McEwen’s Mongoose Effort, the dam of 2004 AQHA champion aged horse and champion aged mare Mongoose Jet Eye ($447,500), the winner of the Grade 1 Vessels Maturity and Grade 1 The Championship at Sunland Park in 2004 and the Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap in 2005.

New Girl (California-bred filly by One Dashing Eagle out of Old Girl) outworked Sheza Dasha Fire from the inside post in :12.2 to :12.3. New Girl’s dam won four races including the Grade 2 Kindergarten Futurity in 2014. New Girl’s third dam is Ed Allred’s graded stakes placed mare Feminista, who has produced Choosy ($91k), Boylike ($45k), Tough Broad ($50k), Warm Form ($37k), and Female Friend ($31k). This family traces back to the W.H. Peckman-bred 1970 AQHA champion Go Together.

Sheza Dasha Fire (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire out of Dasha Freda) finished behind New Girl in this work when going in :12.3 from the outside post. She’s a full-sister to 2015 AQHA World Champion Heza Dasha Fire ($2,167,987) and half-sister to 2015 champion 2-year-old gelding Ima Fearless Hero ($1,062,435). This is a great family that goes back to Fearless Freda ($262k) and Such An Easy Effort ($496k).

Tequila Sangria (California-bred filly by Favorite Cartel out of Ynot Bar) outworked Walk Thru The Bar from the inside post :12.3 to :12.5. Her dam earned $136,480 and was the runner-up in the 2005 Governor’s Cup Futurity. She also qualified to the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity. Ynot Bar is the dam of Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby winner Ynot Walk and also of Dont Pass Bar, who is the dam of champion aged mare Quirky.

Arrogant Disreguard (California-bred gelding by Walk Thru Fire out of Kiss N Toll) outworked Blane when drilling from inside post in :12.2. His dam is the lightly raced Kiss N Toll, whose female family was nurtured by Brazilian horsemen Jose Fakri and Gianni Samaja plus Vessels Stallion Farm and John B. Ford. Purchased for $26,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Arrogant Disreguard’s granddam is First Down Toll, the dam of 2010 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity winner One Quick First Down. This is also the family of 2017 Restricted Grade 3 Governor’s Cup Derby winner Evil Genius.

One Cool Winner (California-bred gelding by Whathaveigottado out of A Super Bowl Winner) won his drill from the inside post :12.3-:12.5. His dam was unraced, but his sire won the Grade 3 Sunland Park Winter Derby in 2010 and $157,747. He also won his trial to the All American Futurity in 2009. Whathaveigottado’s dam is 1989 All American Futurity winner Strawberry Silk.

Walk On By Blues (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire out of Queens R Blue) worked evenly with mate from inside post in :12.3. Purchased for $22,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale, Walk On By Blues is a full-sister to Walk Around Blues, winner of the Garden Grove Stakes and finalist to the Grade 1 Southern California Derby and Grade 2 Golden State Derby in 2015. She’s also a half-sister to Indescribaly Blue, a finalist to the Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity. Walk On By Blues’ granddam is First Place Queen ($880k), the winner of the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity and Grade 1 Golden State Million Futurity in 2002.

Blane (Utah-bred colt by Valiant Hero out of Simply Different) worked from outside post when finishing behind Arrogant Disreguard :12.2-:12.3. His immediate female family is from the breeding stock of Joe Kirk Fulton. His third dam is Daring Difference, the winner of the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity in 1994. This female family goes back to foundation mare Do Good, an AQHA Hall of Fame inductee.

Golden Boy Gonza (California-bred filly by Fast Prize Cartel out of Dashways) She outworked her rival from the outside post when posting a time of :12.3. Golden Boy Gonza’s dam was lightly raced with only five career starts. His granddam is Magical Dash, who produced 2006 Grade 1 Golden State Milion Futurity finalist Magical Latin Lover, 2004 Grade 1 Kindergarten Futurity winner Dash To The End ($152k), and 2003 Restricted Grade 1 Governor’s Cup Derby winner Magic N Rhythm ($116k).

One Sweet Hulk (California-bred gelding by One Sweet Jess out of Shake The Magic) outworked Just A Quirk from the outside post :12.4 to :12.5. His dam is an Oregon-bred winner of two races and over $26,000. Shake The Magic was a finalist to the Grade 2 PCQHRA Breeders Derby in 2005.

Purchased for $100,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Sale. He’s a full-brother to Sale Topper ($204,703), the third place finisher in the 2015 Grade 1 Ed Burke Million Futurity and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity finalist. Special Of Course’s granddam is Oh La Proud, the dam of AQHA champions Hawkinson, Hawkish, Flame N Flash and stakes winners Pride of Katella, Look Her Over and Mister Katella.

Run Happy (Kentucky-bred filly by Jesse James Jr out of Dasha Easy) won her work from the outside post 12.4 to :12.5. Her dam made only two starts while earning $28,000. Her second dam is the great Such An Easy Effort, who ran in 17 stakes races during a brilliant career. A winner of $496,127, Such An Easy Effort won the Grade 1 Denim N Diamonds Handicap at Hollywood Park in 1987, Grade 1 La Primera Del Ano Derby in 1988, Grade 2 Heritage Place Derby in 1988, Grade 3 Sunland Park Fall Derby in 1988, and Grade 1 QHBC Distaff Classic in 1989.

Just A Quirk (California-bred filly by Walk Thru Fire out of Quirky) was outworked from the inside post by One Sweet Hulk :12.4 to :12.5. Quirky was the AQHA champion aged mare in 2015 after winning the Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap, the Grade 2 Charger Bar Handicap, and Restricted Grade 3 California Breeders Matron Stakes. Quirky earned $424,098 in her career.

BF Farmhand (Oregon-bred gelding by Stel Corona out of Spring Bling) was outworked by Perfect FDD when drilling from the outside post in a time of :12.5. His dam was a four-time winner of $48,631. Spring Bling ran in the 2008 Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity and also won her trial to the 2009 Grade 1 All American Derby. She finished second in that year’s Hialeah Sophomore Invitational.

Kiddy Pride (California-bred filly by Kiddy Up out of Fierce Pride). worked evenly with Hot Little Kiddy when going from the inside post in :12.5. Her dam only made four career starts. Her second dam is the previously mentioned Oh La Proud, the dam of AQHA champions Hawkish, Hawkinson, Flame N Flash, etc.

Hot Little Kiddy (California-bred filly by Kiddy Up out of Girls Choice) worked evenly with Kiddy Price from the outside post in :12.5. She’s a full-sister to multiple stakes winner Kiddy Up Cowgirl ($217,041), the winner of the 2018 Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap and 2017 Grade 3 PCQHRA Breeders Derby. Hot Little Kiddy’s granddam is Girl Secrets ($177,552), the winner of the Grade 1 Golden State Derby, Grade 2 La Primera Del Ano Derby, and Grade 2 California Sires Cup Derby.
