Pocatello Downs hosted the $18,500 Gary Blattner and Harold Pence Memorial Derby on Sunday's race card.

POCATELLO, ID—MAY 20, 2018—The two fastest qualifiers for the $18,500 Gary Blattner and Harold Pence Memorial Derby returned to run first and second in the final on Sunday afternoon at Pocatello.

The top half of the Mark Hanson exacta was Wagonfullofdividends ($3.20), the heavy post-time favorite after winning his trial by nearly three lengths. Wagonfullofdividends, with Jesus Canales aboard, covered the 350-yard final in 17.425 and earned an impressive 108 speed index.

The Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt broke out, gained the lead quickly, and put a length in front of stablemate Candy Secret. He is owned by RTM Stables and Shauna Dunn, and was bred in Texas by Randy and Sandy Coleman, out of the Brimmerton mare Ms Athenas Dividend.

The win was the sixth consecutive victory for the 3-year-old, who has career earnings of $65,440. He also won the Bitterroot Futurity at Sandy Downs last summer and was the 2017 Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity winner at Pocatello.

Second fastest qualifier Candy Secret finished second for trainer Mark Hanson and owners RTM Stables and Robin Dunn. Candy Secret’s time of 17.591 earned him a 104 speed index.

Candy Secret is by No Secrets Here and is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess a Candy Gal, bred in Colorado by Hope On A Rope. Francisco Rubio was aboard for Sunday’s race, the gelding’s seventh lifetime start.

Thought It Through and jockey Raymundo Torres finished a length behind Candy Secret for trainer Farroll Cunningham and owner Jorge Murillo.

The filly also finished third in the same trial as Wagonfullofdividends and was the fifth fastest qualifier.

Thought It Through was bred in California by Ed Allred, by Foose, and out of Just Think, by Pritzi Dash.

Completing the field were No House Rules Here, Senor Call, Hr Captain Jack, She Looks Flashy, Kingofdarkness and Easy Blue Vodka. Yourdarkestnitemare was scratched.
