Return To Turn Distance A Winning Move For Coronas Can Man

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 24, 2018—Remington Park began a five-day holiday weekend of racing on Thursday night. A $22,650 allowance event around the turn was the stage for Coronas Can Man to pick up his second career victory, both at the 870-yard turn distance.

Coronas Can Man broke his maiden around the turn on April 12 then moved back to a long-stretch event at 550 yards to finish second. Returning to the 870-yard distance Thursday worked for Coronas Can Man as he rolled from post number seven in the eight-horse field, winning by 1-1/4 lengths in :45.959. Indian Supremacy was second with CJs Rockhard N Ready another head behind in third.

Owned by Kirby and Cathy Kile of Stotts City, Mo. and trained by Kirby Kile, Coronas Can Man was ridden to victory by Berkley Packer.

Away at 5-1 odds in the betting, the 3-year-old gelding paid $12.20 to win $4.20 to place and $3.40 to show. Indian Supremacy paid $6.40 to place and $4.40 to show. CJs Rockhard N Ready paid $2.60.

PBclassydiamondblanc was the beaten wagering favorite at 6-5 odds, finishing fifth. The second career win from five attempts was worth $12,438 to Coronas Can Man, a Missouri-bred by Pete’s Wonder (TB) from the Agouti mare Cruzn On Coronas. Coronas Can Man has now earned $28,457.

Remington Park racing continues with into the holiday weekend, Friday thru Memorial Day, May 25-28. The first race is at 6pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday afternoon racing starts at 1:30pm. The special Memorial Day program will begin at 3pm.
