Political Attraction Digs In To Rally For Boyd Morris Memorial Win At Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 28, 2018—After back-to-back poor starts, Political Attraction broke better and demonstrated a new dimension of surging late in order to win the $69,000 Boyd Morris Memorial Stakes on Memorial Day at Remington Park. The victory was his initial stakes score in Oklahoma City.

With wire-to-wire stakes victories at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla. and Will Rogers Downs in Claremore, Okla. a year ago, Political Attraction now has six lifetime wins and he has won exclusively under the hands of jockey James Flores.

"He's always shown talent. He had a couple of bad trips. I never lost hope in him and neither did the owners," Flores said. "We knew he'd be tough in this race. It got a little rough at the start but the horse has a lot of heart and he didn't let that stop him, he just kept running."

The Boyd Morris Memorial is named after the famed Quarter Horse jockey who won the 1964 All American Futurity on Decketta. The Blanchard, Okla. jockey went on to be a prominent trainer of both Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds once his successful riding career ended. He was a mainstay from the beginning at Remington Park prior to his passing.

Winning jockey James Flores has made a torrid charge in the jockey standings, with both a three-win night and a remarkable five-win night in the most recently completed week of racing. His big move vaulted him to the top of the Remington Park jockey standings with 43 wins.

"It's been the best meet overall. I couldn't be any more fortunate. I'd like to thank everybody who has given me the opportunity to ride their horses. I'm always looking forward to Remington," said Flores. He is seeking his first Remington Park riding title.

The final three race dates of the 2018 American Quarter Horse Season at Remington Park take place Thursday thru Saturday, May 31-June 2. The first race on Thursday, May 31 and Friday, June 1 will begin at 6pm. The opening race on the final night, Saturday, June 2, starts at 5pm.
