Apollitical Scout Prevails In The Junos Request Stakes

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JUNE 2, 2018—The Grade 2, $103,300 Junos Request Stakes for older fillies and mares was a solid horse race for its entire 400 yards. Apollitical Scout out-dueled her rivals to hit the finish with a neck-victory over Hardtoget in the Saturday race at Remington Park.

Owned by Paragon Farms of Conroe, Texas and trained by James Padgett, Apollitical Scout had to work under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, with the effort paying off. Hardtoget had the early lead but Apollitical Scout was quickly up to the challenge, battling for the bulk of the race. One Sweet Racy was a consistent third, just a head behind the runner-up.

Apollitical Scout crossed the finish in :19.202 over the fast track, to set a new stakes record for the Junos Request. The race has been contested at Remington Park since 2006.

Away at 6-1 odds, Apollitical Scout paid $14.60 to win, $6.80 to place and $3.60 to show. Hardtoget returned $5.60 to place and $3.60 to show. One Sweet Racy paid $4 to show. As And Js was the beaten wagering favorite at 5-2 odds, finishing fifth.
