OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JUNE 2, 2018—The world’s richest futurity for Paints and Appaloosas, the Grade 1, $254,300 Speedhorse Graham Futurity, was won easily Saturday night at Remington Park by Memories Of Lil Hero. The 2-year-old filly pulled away to score by 1-1/4 lengths in the 350-yard event.

Owned by Levings Racing of Edmond, Okla. and trained by Rick Robinson, Memories Of Lil Hero was ridden by Cody Jensen. Memories Of Lil Hero showed much improvement from his qualifying trial, which he won by a neck, on May 19 according to Jensen.

"He didn’t get away very good in the trials. We talked it over with Rick (trainer, Robinson), they did some work on him at the gate and tried to find something to get him to stand there and look down the track and he left there in front tonight."

The quick start put Memories Of Lil Hero in command and he was never threatened as he crossed the finish in :17.389, a new stakes record for the Speedhorse Graham Futurity.

Memories Of Lil Hero is now the only horse who can win the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosa Triple Crown. He would need to win the Speedhorse Paint & Appaloosas Futurity at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Okla. in July, followed by a score in the Lone Star Park Paint & Appaloosa Futurity in October in Grand Prairie, Texas in order to complete the series successfully.

Admiral Tom was second while Son Of A Grip finished third, another neck behind the runner-up.

The wagering favorite at 8-5 odds, Memories Of Lil Hero paid $5.20 to win, $3.20 to place and $2.60 to show. Admiral Tom paid $3 to place and $3.20 to show. Son Of A Grip returned $3.20 to show.

Memories Of Lil Hero won the third race of his career, all this season at Remington Park. His only defeat was a third-place effort in the American Paint Classic Futurity in April. The winner’s share of the Speedhorse Graham Futurity was $96,634, pushing the young career total earnings for Memories Of Lil Hero to $120,221.

Bred in Oklahoma by Buddy Albin, Memories Of Lil Hero is a 2-year-old Paint gelding by first-crop sire Little PYC from the Texas Hero mare Memories Of Texas.
