Country Boy 123 Wins Second Consecutive Picov Maturity

AJAX, ONT—MAY 20, 2018—Under a confident ride by jockey Cory Spataro defending champion County Boy 123 returned Sunday to defeat One Famous Glass by a head, winning his second consecutive $55,600 Picov Maturity at Ajax Downs. Ls Prince finished a head off the leaders in a blanket finish for third-place.

A 5-year-old son of champion County Chicks Man, Country Boy 123 completed the 300 yards in :15.280 seconds, a 105 speed index with a 12 mph tailwind. The $22,240 winner's purse boosted the bay gelding's total earning mark to $201,264.

Trainer Bryn Robertson saddled Country Boy 123 for owner Ruth F. Barbour. Carolyn Bay bred the gelding in Minnesota from the Dash Thru Traffic mare Very Dashin 123. The multiple stakes winner has compiled a (21) 13-4-0 record.

Also a multiple stakes winner, runner-up One Famous Glass race for owners Carol Robertson, Jaime Robertson and Dr. Charles Hall. Also trained by Bryn Robertson, the Texas-bred son of leading sire One Famous Eagle earned $11,120 for the effort.

The famed Burnett Ranches LLC bred One Famous Eagle in Texas from the Royal Quick Dash mare Quick Glass. The 6-year-old has compiled a (39) 17-10-5 record and earned nearly $275,000.

Also a Texas-bred, Ls Prince picked up $5,560 for finishing third. Jason Pascoe conditions the Louisiana Senator 4-year-old for owner Milena Kwiecien. Paris Wixom bred Ls Prince from the Sixarun mare Princess Sixarun. Ed Walton had the riding call aboard the multiple stakes winner of $70,786.

Fiesty Icon, Countrys Comin Bac, Alakazaam, Hickerson, Albertt and Miss First Prize Peral completed the field.
