Vvr Dont Sugarcoatit, under jockey Oscar Cervantes, posted the fastest time for the $25,000 Mixed Wyoming Bred Futurity in the last of eight trials on Saturday at Energy Downs.

GILLETTE, WY— JUNE 9, 2018— After seven trials, the fastest qualifiers were nearly set for the $25,000 Mixed Wyoming Bred Futurity at Energy Downs. But the eighth and final trial produced the fastest qualifier, Vvr Dont Sugarcoatit, with a time of 15.783. The 300-yard final will be held at Energy Downs on June 24.

Vvr Dont Sugarcoatit ($5.00) made her debut in her trial and was the post-time favorite. She and Oscar Cervantes broke on top and maintained a lead to the end to win by half a length over Brindis Cruz, the fifth fastest qualifier.

Vvr Don’t Sugarcoatit is trained by Diana Garfias and is owned by Carter Garfias. She was bred by Mike Lipp, sired by Coronas Favorite and out of the Streakin La Jolla mare Highheeled La Jolla.

Like Vvr Dont Sugarcoatit, second-fastest qualifier Mercedes Amg also debuted in her Wyoming Bred Futurity trial. The Maknmoves filly, with Jesus Valenzuela up, won by a nose and posted a time of 15.794.

Mercedes Amg is a homebred for Dan and Patricia Baker and is trained by Riley Moosman. She is out of Sandyton, by Brimmerton. Sandyton’s dam, Dashin Sandy, was a graded stakes winning filly in Wyoming and competed in multiple graded stakes at Los Alamitos.

Of the three top qualifiers, only Magster had raced before. Magster, making her second lifetime start, finished second by a nose to Mercedes Amg and put up the third fastest time of 15.808.

Cordarelton Benn rode Magster in her trial for trainer Jess Matt. The filly is by Brindis Por Cayenne, and is out of Rambling Maggie, by The Down Side. She is owned and bred by Walter Larson.
