Rob That Wagon Completes Hanson Stakes Double with Bitterroot Futurity Victory

IDAHO FALLS, ID—JUNE 22, 2018—The Mark Hanson barn swept the two feature races on the Friday night card (see related story) at Sandy Downs, including the card’s finale, the $92,602 Bitterroot Futurity. Rob That Wagon and Nikeela Black broke sharply and stormed home to win by three-quarters of a length, leading all the way.

The time for the 350-yard futurity was :17.493; the winner earned a 98 speed index.

Rob That Wagon ($18.80) was the third fastest qualifier from five Bitterroot Futurity trials earlier this month. He broke his maiden in his trial victory and the gelding is now two for four lifetime with $38,192 in earnings.

Rob That Wagon is owned by RTM Stables LLC and Robin Dunn, who purchased him for $30,000 at the 2017 Heritage Place Yearling sale. He was bred in Texas by Bob and Jerry Gaston, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, out of First Tea Rose, by First Down Dash.

The fastest qualifier was also the post-time favorite. Silver Jet Dash and Leonardo Gonzales could not catch the winner but put over a length between them and third place finisher Fames Prize Stone. Silver Jet Dash earned a 95 speed index with a time of 17.603 in second place.

The Bodacious Dash colt broke his maiden in his career debut, a trial for the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs. He qualified and returned to run third in the final before winning his trial by over a length and posting the fastest qualifying time of 18.236.

Silver Jet Dash was bred in Texas by Irwin Wall, out of Fancy Smoking Jet, by A Royal Jet. He is owned and trained by Fredy Olmos.

Fames Prize Stone completed the trifecta at 16-1 for trainer Monty Arossa with Rodolfo Arvizu aboard. The First Prize Stone filly is a homebred for Gary and Jeralyn Messenger, bred in Idaho out of the Floyd De Great mare Go For Fame.

Fames Prize Stone broke her maiden in her career debut at Los Alamitos and picked up her second career win in her trial for the Bitterroot, her first race in her home state.

Completing the field were Rtm Why Not Me, Sheza Vital Secret, Jess too Pretty, E Gmail, Favorite Insannaty, Ynot Dash and Unwavering Patriot.
