FREDRICKSBURG, TX—JULY 21, 2018—Cadillac Cash, under jockey Eddie Sanchez, dueled early and was best late to defeat Dashing Sweet Brujo by a nose in the $84,250 G.C.F.A July Firecracker Futurity Saturday afternoon at the Gillespie County Fair Ground. Who He Me finished a neck back in a blanket finish to take third-place.

Cadillac Cash, a son of world champion sire FDD Dynasty, covered the 350 yards in :17.858 seconds, earning a 92 speed index into a 10 mph headwind. It was the third win in five starts this season for the brown colt and the $29,488 winners' purse boosted his bankroll to nearly $81,000.

Trainer Elpidio Luna, Jr. conditions the 2-year-old for owner Rolando Morales. Mary and Jack Evans bred Cadillac Cash in Texas from the Tres Seis mare Evans Express, runner-up in the 2011 Grade 2 Sam Houston Futurity. Cadillac Cash was third in the 2018 Sam Houston Futurity last April.

Runner-up Dashing Sweet Brujo picked up $12,638 for owner-breeder A/J C Racing. Jonathan Castaneda saddled the gelding by first-crop sire Dash Master Jess from the Shazooms Glory Dash mare Shazooms Sweet Bruja. Noe Suarez was riding.

Still a maiden from three starts, Who He Me earned $8,425 for his third-place effort. Also trained by Elpidio Luna, Jr., Who He Me races for owner Valerie Moya. Alejandro Moya bred the bay son of leading sire Heza Fast Dash in Louisiana from the Reckless Dash mare Fance Loretta. J.R. Ramirez had the riding assignment.

Fastest qualifier Bonita de Cap finished fourth, followed by Featuring Ivory, Dashingtobfamous, Catha, Jet Black King, Rjs Cosmo and The Action Queen.
