Jet Black Streak Fastest Qualifier to the G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity

Jet Black Streak Fastest Qualifier to the G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity

FREDRICKSBURG, TX—JULY 22, 2018—Jet Black Streak broke his maiden and qualified to the $34,300 G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity as the fastest qualifier on Sunday afternoon at Gillespie. The 2-year-old son of Jet Black Patriot won his trial, the second of four, a length ahead of sixth-fastest qualifier Flooded Heartland.

Luis Vivanco piloted Jet Black Streak ($4.60) over the 330-yard trial distance in 16.900 to earn a speed index of 94. He is trained by Adrian Huitron for owner Homero Dela Garza Martin.

Jet Black Streak was bred in Texas by Mercy Hinklin, out of the Royal Quick Dash mare Royally Streak. The gray colt debuted in June at Delta and finished third; Sunday’s trial was his second lifetime start.

The first trial produced the second and third fastest qualifiers. One Game Cat and Victor Urieta, Jr won the first trial of the day in 16.990, finishing a head in front of Roamantic Chicks and Ricardo Garza-Cruz with a time of 17.016.

One Game Cat ($13.00) is trained by Juan Diaz, Jr for owner Miriam Beltran. Alan and Sharon Colley bred the filly in Texas, by Dealagame and out of the graded stakes placed mare Pantherisland, by Panther Mountain.

One Game Cat was one of four first-time starters in her trial.

Roamantic Chicks was the 9-5 morning line favorite and one of four horses who had started prior to the trial. The trial was the fifth career start for the filly, who has never finished worse than fourth. Her previous four starts were at Sam Houston, and she broke her maiden in her most recent effort.

Dimas Sanchez trains Roamantic Chicks, who is owned by Juan Antonio Sanchez, Jr. and was bred by Mike Abraham. The New Mexico-bred filly is by Jess A Chicks, out of the Strawfly Special mare Incurably Romantic.

The $34,300 G.C.F.A 79 & Under Speed Index Futurity final will be held at Gillespie on Sunday, August 12. It is restricted to 2-year-olds which had run a speed index of 79 or lower at the time of entry for the trials.
