Brindis Cruz Explodes Late For Easy Win In Big Sky Select Breeders' Quarter Horse Futurity

GREAT FALLS, MT—JULY 28, 2018—Fastest qualifier Brindis Cruz exploded late under jockey Shaunda Larsen to easily defeat Running J by 1-˝ lengths in the $18,925 Big Sky Select Breeders' Quarter Horse Futurity Saturday afternoon at Great Falls. Thischicksgoteffort finished a neck back in third.

Saddled by trainer Jess Matt, Brindis Cruz completed the 300 yard course over a sloppy racetrack in :15.848 seconds with a 3 mph tailwind. It was the second win from four starts this season for the Lana Matt owned son of multiple stakes sire Brindis Por Cayenne.

Bred by the late K.C. Carden, Brindis Cruz is out of the Check Him Out mare Gm Check Her Out. Second in the Wyoming All Breeders Racing Association Futurity last month, the sorrel gelding has banked more than $21,000 this year.

Still a maiden from two career starts, runner-up Runnin J earned $4,353 for owner/breeder Linford Ranch Horses. David W. Green saddled the daughter of Royal Three Dash from the Sir Antoino mare Runnin On Sugar. Jesus Flores was riding.

Nikeela Renae Black had the ridding call aboard Ralph Young's home bred Thischicksgoteffort. Also trained by Greene, the daughter of Tr Special is out of Furious Chick by Looking For Chicks. She earned $2,461 for finishing third.

This Chicks Packin, Kay Cross Conman and High On The Night completed the field. My Wicked Corona was scratched.
