Mr Coronado Cash Earns First Stakes Victory in Cherokee Nation at Fair Meadows

TULSA, OK—JULY 28, 2018— Mr Coronado Cash and Paul Nieto broke on top and never looked back in the $15,000 Cherokee Nation Stakes at Fair Meadows on Saturday night. The winning duo built an impressive lead early and won by a length over Docs Kansas Rep and Daniel Torres.

The final time for the 350-yard race was 17.828; Mr Coronado Cash earned an 88 speed index.

Mr Coronado Cash ($12.40) has won three of his five lifetime starts for trainer Manuel Mata and owner Oscar Maclas. The 2-year-old gelding was bred in Louisiana by Todd Antonuk, by Coronado Cartel and out of Never Neutral, by Mr Eye Opener.

This was the first stakes win for Mr Coronado Cash. He finished off the board in his first stakes start at Delta Downs in May.

The strung-out field trailed Mr Coronado Cash with Docs Kansas Rep a length behind in second and Sr Shegone another length back in third.

The 2-year-old son of Louisiana Senator is trained by Kenny Laymon and owned by Regina Laymon. Jk Running Horses LLC bred Docs Kansas Rep in Oklahoma, out of the FDD Dynasty mare Docs Dynasty 123.

This was the first stakes start for Docs Kansas Rep. The gelding broke his maiden at Fair Meadows and had won two consecutive wins prior to Saturday’s stake.

Third-place finisher Sr Shegone was ridden by Edwuin Lujan for trainer Manuel Almanza. The Mighty B Valiant filly debuted at Remington before breaking her maiden at Fair Meadows, followed by an allowance win.

Sr Shegone is owned and bred by Rick and Connie Dickson in Oklahoma, out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Jessta Lil Spitfire.

Completing the field were James On the Fly, First Prize Shawn, Pops Tempting Wagon, Dynamite Lips, Vf Tempting a Wheely, Louisiana Time and Dreaming of Success.
