TULSA, OK—JULY 28, 2018—The three-race win streak of fastest qualifier Hooked On a Win was broken by former claimer Oltigbitties in the $75,300 Speedhorse Quarter Horse Derby at Fair Meadows on Saturday night. Oltigbitties ($24.80), with Cody Smith aboard, gained an early lead and maintained it to win by just under a length.

Final time for the 350-yard race was 17.635, fast enough for a 93 speed index. Oltigbitties was the fourth fastest qualifier from four trials with a time of 17.756.

Oltigbitties is a 3-year-old Lota Pyc filly, bred in Oklahoma by Shelly Coldwell Goodnight, out of the Holland Ease mare Love Shack. She is owned and trained by Pedro Martinez.

Oltigbitties broke her maiden in her debut as a 2-year-old at Remington Park, and competed in allowance and claiming races before finally being picked up for a tag in her start prior to the Speedhorse Derby trial.

She has five wins in ten lifetime starts and has only finished off the board once, in an allowance race against older horses.

In second place was the second choice of the wagering public, Lota Cac and jockey James Flores. Like Oltigbitties, Lota Cac was also claimed in his start prior to the Speedhorse Derby trial. He won by three lengths when he was claimed and returned to run second in his trial.

Lota Cac is trained by R.L. Robinson for owner Whiting Ranch. The gelding was bred in Oklahoma by Steve Holt, by Lota Pyc and out of Crazy About Corona, by Corona Cartel.

Fastest qualifier and heavy favorite Hooked On a Win completed the trifecta. The Pyc Paint Your Wagon gelding won his trial by over a length, his third consecutive win prior to the trial. He has won five lifetime races and was previously undefeated at Fair Meadows.

Hooked On a Win is trained by Kenny Laymon and owned by Regina Laymon. He was bred by Jk Running Horses LLC in Oklahoma, out of the Pretty Boy Perry mare Pretty Girl Kate.

Completing the field were Dashing Vickie, Moon Dash Cartel, Tempting Annee GI, Lil Bit Corona, Rolling Along, Miss Racy Cartel and World Class Jess.
