Cartel M Breaks Maiden In TQHA Sale Juvenile

SELMA, TX—AUGUST 4, 2018—Cartel M, under jockey Juan Garcia, Jr., defeated Louisiana Hit Man by a neck Saturday night to break her maiden in the $38,853 TQHA Sale Juvenile at Retama Park. The Dealers On Fire finished three-quarters back to finish third.

Cartel Me completed the 350 yards in :18.135 seconds into an 18 mph headwind to pick up the winner's purse valued at $13,599. Conditioned by trainer Pedro Lopez, the daughter of champion sire The Louisiana Cartel has compiled a (5) 1-2-1 record this season and banked $17,844.

A $7,500 repurchase in the 2017 TQHA Yearling Sale, Cartel M races for owner Gustaavo Canales. Eduardo Galindo bred the brown Texas-bred filly from the Jody O Toole mare Magic O Toole.

Coming off his first win in the July 13th trials, runner-up Louisiana Hit Man races for owner T.C. Flack and trainer Leon Bard. Purchased for $6,000 in the TQHA Yearling Sale, the son of The Louisiana Cartel was bred by Richard Arizpe from the Tres Seis mare Seis Passes. Ridden by jockey Francisco Calderon earned $10,879 for his effort.

Pete Scarmardo's homebred The Dealers On Fire earned $7,382 for finishing third. Also trained by Bard, the Dealagame filly out of Fire In The Tank, by Fishers Dash, was ridden by Jose Martinez.

Gone Regardless, Our Mr Td, Mosco Fly With Me completed the field. Lindsaysecretdancer, Temptation Is Sweet, New News and This Guys A Vocom were all scratched.
