ROCKY VIEW, ALB—SEPTEMBER 22, 2018—Free Thought, a 7-year-old son of champion sire Stel Corona, was much the best on Saturday when he defeated Big Hoss Rollin by 3-¼ lengths in the $9,718(US) Century Downs 770 Stakes (not black type).

Free Thought was quickest to the turn from the start. Jockey Ricardo Moreno corrected the bay gelding while drifting out coming off the turn then won going away. Completing the 770 yards in :40.744 seconds, a 94 speed index into a 8 mph headwind on a muddy racing surface, he picked up $5,150(US) for the effort.

Trainer William Leech saddled the stakes winner for owner Charles Stojan. Bred in California by Edward C. Allred, Free Thought has compiled a (44) 22-10-6 record and banked over $93,000. He is out of the Pritzi Dash mare Just Think.

Runner-up Big Hoss Rollin races for owner-trainer Deanne Davies. Adrian Gonzalez rode the graded-placed son of Zillas Spin Doctor from the Dashing Val mare Sables Val. Sazwan Speed Horses bred the earner of nearly $59,000 in Alberta.

Multiple stakes-placed Kr Howdoyoulikemenow earned $1,166(US) after he fished three-quarters back to take third. Owned-and-trained by Cory Rumsey, the 11-year-old son of Scrutinizer was ridden by jockey Larry Munoz. Ed and Mary Kyler bred the bay gelding in Alberta from the Six Fols mare Kr Check Me Out. He has earnings in excess of $63,000.

Er Cafe, Canadian Timber and Munckin completed the field. Ms Uniroyal was scratched.
