Little Kool Belle Fastest Valley Junction Qualifier, Charette Hill, Olmstead Saddle Three Each

Little Kool Belle Fastest Valley Junction Qualifier, Charette Hill, Olmstead Saddle Three Each

ALTOONA, IA—SEPTEMBER 29, 2018—Making her first start since finishing fourth in the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity last June, Little Kool Belle posted a dominating 1-¾ length win in the fourth of five trials contested Saturday for the Valley Junction Futurity at Prairie Meadows.

Under jockey Jorge Torres, Little Kool Belle completed the 350 yards in :17.433 seconds, a 102 speed index over "sloppy-sealed" race course with a 10 mph crosswind. The daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon was the first of three finalists ridden by Torres for trainer Stacy Charette-Hill.

A homebred owned by Charette-Hill and Leann J. Burns, the Oklahoma-bred filly has compiled a (4) 2-1-0 record and earned $88,639 this season. She is out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Little Kool Barbie.

In the third trial Charette-Hill sent out Miss Energy P to a head win over Apollitical Mogual to get the third fastest clocking of :17.669 seconds, a 94 speed index. The daughter of Pyc Paint Your Wagon dug deep under jockey Torres to get her second win in five starts this season.

Bred in Texas by Bielau Oaks, from the First Down Dash mare First Down Energy, Miss Energy P was second in the Mystic Lake Northlands Futurity in July and banked $41,255.

Charette-Hill's final qualifier, Apollitical Doll, finished second to Pamplonna in the final trial to get the 7th fastest time of :17.724 seconds.

Trainer Clinton Crawford saddled the aforementioned Pamplonna to a three-quarter length win in the last trial to get the second fastest time of :17.608 seconds.

Jorge Haddad and Renee Wilson own the daughter of champion sire First Moonflash from the Feature Mr Jess mare Im A Feature Girl.

A finalist in the Ruidoso Juvenile last June, Pamplonna broke her maiden in the trials and has earned $16,631 this season. Haddad is the breeder.

Leading trainer Jason Olmstead saddled 4th fastest Thisbetterwork, 5th fastest Apollitical Mogul and 6th fastest qualifier The Bald Eagle. Cristian Esqueda had the riding call on all three horses, including The Bald Eagle, a son of One Famous Eagle who won the opening trial by three-quarters in :17.718 seconds.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the 43 2-year-olds who participated in Saturday's five trials will return to Prairie Meadows on Saturday, October 13th to vie for the winner's share of a $251,514 purse going 350 yards.
