Dtl Samureye Holds Off Bully Pulpit In $16,700 Lorelei Paint and Appaloosa Derby at Will Rogers

CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 29, 2018—Dtl Samureye held off a late close from Bully Pulpit to win the $16,700 Lorelei Paint and Appaloosa Derby at Will Rogers Downs Saturday afternoon. Dcm Furyofhestorm finished one-length back in third.

Ridden by jockey Agustin Silva, Dtl Samureye completed the 400 yards in :20.007 seconds into a 7 mph crosswind to pick up the winner's share of the purse worth $8,965.

Trainer R.L. Rick Robinson saddled the son of SF Royal Quick Flash for owner Almada Racing. Bred by Dean and Tonya Lester, Dtl Samureye has won five of 10 starts and banked $60,605.

Multiple Grade 1 winner Bully Pulpit earned $3,840 for finishing second. Matt Whitekiller trains the Oklahoma-bred son of Crm Livewire for owners Dan and Kay Jones. Bred by Chuck Bowlan, from the Apollo (TB) mare Judys Apollo, Bully Pulpit has earned $195,288.

Third-place finisher DCM Furyofthestorm is a stablemate of Bully Pulpit. A home bred for Dan and Kaye Jones, the son of Furyofthewind is conditioned by Whitekiller and ridden by Jose Vega. Out of the Texas Hero mare Elaina Go Go, the brown gelding earned $2,154 for the effort.

Ruthies Hotrod, Cajun Prize and Rp Deans Livewire completed the field.
