GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—OCTOBER 6, 2018—Trainer Rolando Almanza swept the Dash For Cash series at Lone Star Park Saturday night when Paint Me A Sinner raced to her third consecutive win in the $405,585 Grade 2 Dash For Cash Futurity.
Almanza sent out the Dash For Cash Juvenile winner Zoomin Patriot (see related story) and Dash For Cash Derby winner Eos A Political Win (see related story) on Lone Star Park's Saturday card earlier in the evening.
Under jockey Ricardo Garza-Cruz, Paint Me A Sinner sped over the muddy (sealed) surface in a quick :19624 clocking, a 99 speed index, to defeat posttime favorite Mpsshinning by half-a-length. The wire-to-wire win was worth $162,234.
"We knew she’d break out front, but weren’t sure she could hold them off," said winning trainer Rolando Almanza. "She’s such a little filly, but she’s got a big heart. She doesn’t know how big she is."
Owner Claudi Avila purchased the daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon at the 2017 TQHA Yearling Sale for $14,500. Bred in Texas by longtime breeders Bob and Jerry Gaston, the filly out of the First Down Dash mare Shades Of Sin Tacha has compiled a (5) 3-1-1 record and earned $170,676 this season. The Gaston's also co-bred the filly's' second dam Miss Sin Tacha, a graded stakes-placed daughter of Mr Jess Perry who was finalist in the 2008 Dash For Cash Futurity(G1).
Suffering just the second loss in his young career runner-up Mpshinning earned $68,949 for this effort. Trainer Adrian Huitron saddled the son of All American Futurity(G1) winner Mr Piloto for owner Larry Boudreaux.
Jon and Donna McPherson bred the bay colt in Louisiana from the First To Shine mare Shinningperrydash. Ridden by Luis Vivanco, the stakes winner has compiled a (6) 4-1-0 record and earned $142,45 this season. In August Mpshinning won the Gillespie County Fair Futurity.
