CLAREMORE, OK—OCTOBER 26, 2018—A leading second-crop sire this year, Lota Pyc runners dominated four trials on Friday for the $89,680 Oklahoma Horsemen's Association Mystery Derby at Will Rogers Downs.

From four starters, the son of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon sired three finalists, two trial winners, and four of the top 12 trial times, including fastest qualifier Lota Stars Falling.

Lota Stars Falling finished strong in the third trial (race 10) under jockey Cody Smith to record the fastest clocking of :17.582 seconds, a 95 speed index, over track surface rated "good".

Trainer Loyd Moreland saddled the Lota Pyc filly, out of the Texigo Star mare Stars Falling, for owner/breeders Ken and Reba George. The bay filly stepped up in class while making her first appearance in the stakes trial.

Jockey Cody Smith also rode Lota Pyc Chrome to the third fastest clocking of :17.674 seconds, a 92 speed index, in the opening trial for owner Mary Mesa and trainer Diego Meza.

It was third consecutive win for the son of Lota Pyc out of Miss Desert Chrome by The Desert Jewel. Bred in Oklahoma by Denis D. Babb Trust, Lota Pyc Chrome has earned $34,941.

Lota Pyc's final qualifier, Oltigbitties, was again ridden by Cody Smith and finished second by a neck in the second trial to get the 10th qualifying time of :17.828 seconds.

Making her first start since winning the $75,300 Speedhorse Derby at Fair Meadows on July 28th, Oltigbitties races for owner Cosme Velasquez and is conditioned by trainer Guillermo Garcia. A five-time winner out of Love Shack, by Holland Ease, Oltigbitties has earned nearly $60,000.

Kathleen O. Matey's Grade 1-placed Trace Dynasty posted a 1-¼ length win in the final trial to get the second fastest time of :17.635 seconds, a 93 speed index.

Omar Reyes rode the daughter of world champion sire FDD Dynasty for trainer Clinton Crawford. Out of the Streakin Sixes mare Wowzer Won, Trace Dynasty has compiled a (12) 4-4-2 record and earned $232,722. She was second in the Heritage Place Futurity(G1) last season.

Leading sire Apollitical Jess also got three qualifiers, 4th fastest Jess Candy Politics, 5th fastest Vf Adreneline Rush and 6th fastest Admiral Sting.

FDD Dynasty was the only other sire with multiple qualifiers, getting two in the final with 8th fastest Perrys Dynasty.
