His Paul Walker (#8) gets past Igotmybiggirljeanson (#2) to set the top qualifying time from five trials contested Friday at Sunland Park for the $211,090 Shue Fly Stakes(RG3).

SUNLAND PARK, NM—JANUARY 4, 2019—Hs Paul Walker, under jockey Alonso Rivera, defeated Igotmybiggirljeanson by a neck Friday afternoon at Sunland Park Racetrack & Casino to set the top qualifying time for the $211,090 Shue Fly Stakes(RG3).

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the 48 New Mexico state-breds who competed in five trial races, will return to Sunland Park on Saturday, January 26th to vie for the winner's share of the purse worth $99,212.

Saddled by trainer Alvaro Hinojos, Hs Paul Walker drifted in while completing the 400 yards in :19.470 seconds, a 92-speed index with a 9 mph tailwind, to get the top qualifying mark.

Racing for owner Fernando Solis Grajeda, the son of third-crop sire Osbaldo, entered the trials off a runner-up effort in the $315,450 New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) on November 4th. Bred by Hubaldo Solis, from the Strawflyin Buds Strawberryberryfast, Hs Paul Walk has compiled a (10) 4-3-1 record and banked $99,300.

Under champion jockey Ricky Ramirez, Igotmybiggirljeanson held for the second fastest time of :19.505 seconds, a 91 speed index. Rodolfo Valles conditions the multiple stakes finalist by last year's leading Third-Crop Sire of Money Earners Big Daddy Cartel, for owners Sheree and Jerry Cannon.

Kim and Barbara Saunders bred the brown filly from the Soli mare Prada N Jeans. She has earned $54,404.

Graded stakes winner Saul got a neck win in the fourth trial to post the third fastest time of :19.525 seconds, a 90 speed index. Wesley Giles saddled the lightly races New Mexico Breeders' Futurity winner for owners Jill Giles, Megan Hourigan and Cory Taylor.

Jill Giles bred the son of Sign To Be A Runway from the Dash Ta Fame mare The Rainbow Rea. He has won four of five career starts and banked nearly $80,000. His only loss came in the $315,450 New Mexico Classic Futurity(RG2) in November.

Champion sire First Moonflash led all sires with four qualifiers and Big Daddy Cartel had two.
