Eysa Jess Jumpn Rallies To Win $25,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes At Harrah's Louisiana Downs

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 19, 2019—Despite cool temperatures and stiff winds, Eysa Jess Jumpn overcame the conditions with another standout performance in the $25,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes Saturday afternoon at Harrah's Louisiana Downs.

Breaking from post position nine under rider Guadalupe Lucio, Jr., the daughter of Heza Fast Dash out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Jess Jumpn overcame a less than ideal break to score her sixth career victory. Closing well in the final strides, she was able to score over Tdz Louisiana Toast by a neck in a final time of :17.190 over the fast track and 20 mph tail wind.

"When the horse (Jess Run Corona) broke through the gates and had to be reloaded, she got a little anxious," said Huitron. "Lupe said she was not paying attention when she broke, but after two to three jumps, she really took off."

Owner Jose Estrada Quarter Horses who purchased the filly for a modest $11,500 at the 2016 LQHBA Yearling Sale. She was bred by David Dunn of Spring Hill Farms in Kaplan, Louisiana and continues to rack up the wins.

Last July, as the fastest qualifier, she defeated a contentions field in the richest race of the Delta Downs Quarter Horse meet, the $700,000 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1). The lone disappointment in her 2-year-old campaign was her LQHBA Louisiana Million trial loss last November. She failed to qualify for the final, but got back to the winner's circle on December 9 at Fair Grounds with a commanding win in the $100,000 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile.

With today's winner's check of $15,000, the filly has now earned $440,770. Huitron said that they might pay the fillyn into the Mardi Gras Derby at Louisiana Downs or wait for Delta Downs.

Tdz Louisiana Toast owned by Juan Martinez Labistida, earned $5,000 for her runner-up finish. The Jess Louisiana Blue gelding from Shes A Royal Toast, by Toast To Dash, also ran second to Eysa Jess Jumpn in the Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile and was ridden by Victory Urieta, Jr. today. Josue Ponce saddled the Tony Doughtie-bred gelding for owner Juan F. Martinez-Labastida.

Heza Made Man, also by leading sire Heza Fast Dash, completed the trifecta. Trainer Joe Davis conditions the stakes winning gelding for owner Martina Carmen Araujo Diaz. The $2,750 third-place check boosted the gelding out of Six Streakin Salute by Streakin La Jolla, earnings mark to $39,500. Rodney and Phillip Debenedetto is the breeder. Everardo Rodriguez was riding.

Cajun Cos, Packin a Punch, Heza Magic Coronas, Jess Run Corona, His Louisiana Dream, Lrh Mojo Rising and Tetris B completed the field.
