Half-Brother To All American Futurity Winner Posts Solid Work Tuesday At Los Alamitos

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 12, 2019—Trainer Juan Aleman worked several of his top prospects on Tuesday, April 9 at Los Alamitos headed by CC Varsity Jacket, a half-brother to 2018 All American Futurity winner Apocalyptical Jess.

Bred by Danny J. Miller and owned by JGA Racing Stables, Inc., CC Varsity Jacket worked 220 yards from the inside post against the Kiddy Up colt Leonel Bugatti. The Aleman-trained colts hit the wire in unison in :12.3 with CC Varsity Jacket breaking alertly and then being urged left handed at the midway point. Meanwhile, Leonel Bugatti was solid throughout and galloped out nicely.

Sired by Hes Relentless, CC Varsity Jacket is out of the Holland Ease mare Cassandra Crest. A winner of $75,671 in her career, she finished second in the Grade 1 Retama Park Futurity in 2003 and also competed in the Grade 2 Lazy E Derby in 2004. Her son, Apocalyptical Jess, has earned $1,549,032 in his seven-race career, highlighted by his All American win. He also competed in the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity and on Sunday he won a trial to the Remington Park Oklahoma-Bred Derby. Here are other standouts from Tuesday’s works:

Leonel Bugatti (:12.3) California-bred colt is out of Warm My Form, whose mother is Feminista, the runner-up in the 1997 La Primera Del Año Derby. She competed in 12 stakes races at Los Alamitos during her racing career.

Sacred Nation (:12.3) Favorite Cartel colt trained by Aleman is out of the mare Tahma Hawk. She produced All American Futurity finalist Crooked Path and current top racehorse Ray Donovan. She is also the dam of stakes winner Stel Hawk.

Jess A Favorite Kiss (:12.3) Jess Being Valiant filly trained by Paul Jones is the first foal out of Favorite Kiss. The mare qualified to the 2015 Golden State Million Futurity and was third in the Emma Bug Handicap in 2016. Favorite Kiss’ mother is The Goodbye Kisser, winner of the 2010 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity.

She Runs By You (:12.4) Foose filly trained by Aleman is the first foal out of Run By You. She qualified to the 2014 PCQHRA Breeders Futurity and as a sophomore made the finals to the La Primera, Golden State Derby and Los Alamitos Super Derby.

Foxys First Kiss (:12.9) The filly by Kiss My Hocks had a terrific first drill, working :12.3 on March 26. On Tuesday, the Jones-trainee hesitated at the start, appeared to brush the right side of the gate as she exited and then drifted inward. She finished with a :12.9 clocking against the aforementioned Jess A Favorite Kiss.
