Howling Good Time Wins Second Race In Row At Remington Park Among $20,000 Claimers Thursday Night

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 23, 2019—Howling Good Time popped a horseshoe in the Remington Park paddock before her race Thursday night, but having to be re-shoed in her stall while the others were out on the track warming up had no adverse effect on her as she cruised to victory.

This 4-year-old mare was rushed back out to the track and she took it in stride as jockey Gaspar Garcia got her out of the gate first and she romped to the win by three-quarters of a length in a race for $20,000 claimers, 3-years-old-and older that had not won three races lifetime, going 350 yards.

Howling Good Time, trained by Roberto Duenes, is quickly working her way through her conditions, winning with non-winners of two races last time out, May 2, at Remington Park. Her only loss this race meet was when she ran third on March 23, beaten less than a length.

Her running time was 17.427 seconds, good enough to earn a 92 speed index Thursday night. She earned $13,664 for her owner Maricela Olvera of Fort Worth, Texas, from the purse of $20,800. Her lifetime record is now 10 starts, three wins, one second and two thirds for earnings of $43,092. All three of Howling Good Time’s wins have come at Remington Park in five starts here.

She went off at 7-1 odds and paid $16.20 to win, $7.20 to place, $4 to show across the board. Eagle Out of Sight, the wagering favorite at 3-2 odds, ran second, a half-length ahead of third-place finisher Johnny P. The $2 exacta payoff with the heavy favorite as the runner-up was worth $50.60. The 50-cent trifecta paid $48.55 and the 10-cent superfecta with Effortless Chic Desi, at 26-1, returned $116.47 to bettors that correctly pegged the 3-7-8-10 combination.

Garcia has been in the irons for the last two wins aboard Howling Good Time and Berkley Packer rode her to the maiden victory on May 31, 2018 at Remington.

Racing continues Friday night at 6 p.m. with 12 races scheduled.
