RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—MAY 24, 2019—Circle Cross Racing Stables' Silk for My Hero V won her first race when she sped to the fastest-qualifying time during the first of two days of trials to the Grade 1, $1-million (est.) Ruidoso Futurity on Friday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.
The horses with the top-five times from Friday's 14 trials qualified to compete against the top-five qualifiers from Saturday's 14 trials in the 350-yard Ruidoso Futurity on June 9.
The horses with next five-fastest times on each day qualify to compete in the $100,000 Ruidoso Juvenile, also on June 9.
First post time for Saturday's trials is noon.
Racing resumes a regular 1 p.m. first post time on Sunday with the 10 trials to the Grade 1, $957,483 Ruidoso Derby. The Ruidoso Derby trials feature each of the three horses who earned a 2018 two-year-old championship, including Grade 1, $3-million All American Futurity winner Apocalyptical Jess.

"She had a perfect trip," jockey Ricky Ramirez said. "She heard a little noise in the gates and then the gates opened. She was gone."
The Trey Wood-trained daughter of first-crop sire One Valiant Hero was second in her only other start, which came at Remington Park. Valeriano Racing Stables LLC bred the filly in Oklahoma from the Panther Mountain mare Silk Mountain.
Horton Racing, LLC's homebred At Attention posted the second-fastest qualifying time in the 13th trial. The gelding went to the lead from the second post position and then held Bd Charles in Charge safe by one-half length with a :17.191 time. Agustin Silva was aboard At Attention.
"I don't think he liked the Remington Park track," trainer John Stinebaugh said. "I think he struggled there.
"He's homegrown and has always looked like the real deal."

Clinton Crawford saddled the son of champion sire Good Reason Sa for owner Cavenaugh Quarter Horses LLC. Michael Pohl bred the colt in Oklahoma from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare Send Me This Wagon.
Fulton Quien Sabe Ranches LP bred the bay filly in Texas from the Tres Seis mare Pandorum.
The final qualifying spot on Friday when to Bella Vista Farms' homebred Bv Sheslikethewind. The daughter of leading sire Apollitical Jess was a half-length winner in the trial five for trainer Eddie Lee Willis.
Out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Cayenne, Bv Sheslikethewind stopped the clock in :17.857 seconds.
