Sneakers Version Earns First Stakes Victory in 89 and Under Stakes at Wyoming Downs

EVANSTON, WY—JULY 21, 2019— A pair of Jordan Hadley trainees swept the exacta in the $20,550 89 and Under Stakes (not black-type) at Wyoming Downs on Sunday afternoon.

Sneakers Version ($36.40) upset the field in a half-length victory over Jakes Legacy in a gate-to-wire effort. The final time for the 400-yard race was 19.661; the winner earned a 99 speed index.

Tyson Lusk was aboard Sneakers Version for the filly’s first stakes win and eighth career start. She was bred in Utah by her owner, Scott Peterson, by Winners Version and out of Sneakers Special, by Special Effort.

Jakes Legacy earned his best stakes placing in the feature race in Evanston. The 3-year-old Jr Dynasty Mountain gelding was ridden by Uriel Dominguez for owner and breeder Kapp Investments Company LLC.

Jakes Legacy was bred in Utah out of the Raise a Secret mare Donnasecret.

Mr Downtown Zip and Jose Guzman finished just a nose behind Jakes Legacy in third place. The 3-year-old son of Jess Zoomin is trained by Martha Maldonado for owner Raul Moreno. He was bred in Wyoming by S Bar S, out of Miss Corona Downtown by The Corona.

Completing the field were Missus Badger, Favorite La Blue, Bp Fling Your Paint, Hez Fabulous, Aj Shakeitlike Elvis and Rf Fames Favorite. Heztwoforthedough was scratched.
