Southern Electric Draws Off In Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity Win

TULSA, OK—JULY 27, 2019—Southern Electric, under jockey Andrew Samaniego, broke sharp then drew off to a 1-˝ length win over stablemate Dtl Chasin Tale in the $102,800 Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity(G1) Saturday at Fair Meadows in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Trainer Ty Blackwell saddled the son of leading sire Crm Livewire to his sixth career win (second futurity) for owner-breeders Dan and Kaye Jones. The sorrel gelding out of Ze Southern Girl (QH) by Southern Cartel (QH) pocketed $39,064 for the effort to bring his 2019 total to $136,820.

Southern Electric completed the 350 yards in :17.651 seconds, equaling a 94 speed index into an 8 mph headwind.

Dtl Chasin Tale, a multiple stakes winning son of first-crop Quarter Horse sire Wagon Tales earned $17,476 for his second-place effort. Also conditioned by Blackwell, the bay gelding races for owner DTL Teel Partnership. Dean and Tonya Lester bred Dtl Chasin Tale from the SF Royal Quick Flash mare Shez Showin Off. He has earned more than $200,000 this year.

Still a maiden, Charlie Rising earned $11,308 for finishing third. Dee Keener saddled the Crm Livewire gelding out of Rare Wine, by Treasured, for owner Jay Ross. Henry and Linda Bowlan bred the earner of $66,680 in Oklahoma.

Twisted Fashion, Onlycloverofmine, Cl Fake News, Dtl Smooth Criminal, Phq Apollitical Jess, Lotto Livewire and Js Kool Hand Luke completed the field.
