A Dashing Diva Dominates NDQHRA Derby With Track Record Performance

FARGO, ND—JULY 28, 2019—With a mid-stretch kick under jockey Jake Olesiak, A Dashing Diva dominated the $15,646 NDQHRA Derby final Sunday at North Dakota Horse Park, defeating Ramblin V Eight by 1-¼ lengths.

The daughter of world champion One Dashing Eagle got her first career win while completing the 400 yards in :20.099 seconds. She earned a 102 speed index while breaking the 10-year-old track record into a 10 mph crosswind.

The previous record of :20.187 seconds was set August 21, 2009 by No Temper Here.

A homebred racing for owner-breeder David L. Wisdom, A Dashing Diva is trained by Robert Don Johnson. Out of the Royal Shake Em mare Shake Em Diva, the gray filly earned $7,823 to increase her lifetime mark to $12,082.

Amanda Haar saddled runner-up Ramblin V Eight for owner Bryson Dewald. Fernando Fonseca-Soto rode the Ima Ramblin On filly out of Two Thirty Eight by Lead The Field. Bred by Randal Schwatch, the winner of last year's North Plains Futurity earned $3,598 for her effort.

Dawsons Affair, a son of champion Prospect To The Top, finished 1-½ lengths back to take third for owner Leon Glasser and trainer Sharlene Reuer. Karen Glasser bred the bay gelding from the Rare News mare Little Love Affair. Shaun Herman was riding. He picked up $2,034.

Mighty B, Hesa Mr Moonflash, Really Special, I Can Jetaway and Corona Company completed the field.
