Bp Fling Your Paint Fastest Qualifier to Renegade Sports Derby at Wyoming Downs

EVANSTON, WY—AUGUST 3, 2019—Two trials at Wyoming Downs on Saturday afternoon determined the field for the Renegade Sports Derby.

The first trial produced most of the qualifiers, including the top three, led by Bp Fling Your Paint with a time of :19.957. Bp Fling Your Paint ($5.60) and jockey Elliot Bachicha, Jr. earned a 91 speed index in the 400-yard trial event.

Bp Fling Your Paint is a 3-year-old gelding by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, out of Southern Fling, by Southern Cartel. He was bred in Oklahoma by Bill Price and is trained by Josh Taylor for owner Renegade Racing.

Bp Fling Your Paint made his stakes debut earlier this summer at Wyoming Downs in the 89 and Under Stakes but is still in search of his first stakes win. He is four for 14 lifetime with $34,024 in career earnings to date.

Pappajeto, with Uriel Dominguez up, finished in second place as the second fastest qualifier with a time of 20.048. The Pappasito gelding is trained by David Burt; he and Linda Burt own and bred him in Utah, out of Streaking Secrets, by A Streak of Cash.

Pappajeto was third in the Open Derby at Laurel Brown in June and won a consolation at Elko last fall.

One Dashing Dream and Jose Figueroa finished a nose behind in third place for trainer Diana Garfias and owner Aron Saenz. She was bred in Utah by the Marla K. Robinson Family Trust, by One Dashing Eagle and out of Coronas Dreamgirl, by Corona Cartel.

One Dashing Dream won the Utah Bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs last summer.

The winner of the second trial, Femme Fatalia, won her race by a neck as the post-time favorite. The daughter of Favorite Cartel posted a time of 20.379 in the 400-yard race and earned a speed index of 81.

Femme Fatalia is trained by Glade Van Tassell and is owned by Melody Olsen. She was bred in Californa by Steve Burns, DVM, out of the Chicks Beduino mare Kool Kue Chick. As a 2-year-old, she finished second in the Beehive Futurity at Laurel Brown and in the Wyoming Downs Futurity.
