SELMA, TX—AUGUST 3, 2019—Coming off $15,000 maiden-claiming win at Fair Meadows on July 24, Moonpiebywire dueled early then held off Banking On Kool to win the $20,000 Colors Of The Alamo Paint & Appaloosa Futurity Saturday night at Retama Park.

Ridden by jockey Luis Vivanco, Moonpiebywire completed the 350 yards in :18.351 seconds, into a 12 mph headwind, to take home the winner's prize worth $11,000. The daughter of leading Paint sire Crm Livewire is conditioned by trainer Gary Jacobs.

Owed by Wag Ranches, the Texas-bred out of Moonpie Marauder by Royal Shake Em (QH) was bred by Wendell Blankenship. She has compiled a (6) 2-1-0 record and earned $23,980 this season.

Runner-up Banking On Kool races for owner-trainer Roberto Duenes. Bobby Dow rode the bay son of the Quarter Horse stallion Kool Wagon from the Raise A Winner mare Thank The Bank. Tonight was the second stakes placing for the Oklahoma-bred who has earned $17,499. H.T. Churchwell is the breeder.

Catch This Kitty, an Appaloosa daughter of Quarter Horse sire Capo de Capi, was a head back in the blanket finish to get third. Juan Gomez trains the chestnut filly for owner-breeder Jeff Adams. Jose Vega had the riding call aboard the Oklahoma-bred from the Panther Mountain (QH) mare R Ms Kitty. The $2,000 third-place payday boosted Catch This Kitty's earnings total to $16,848.

Lotto Livewire, Goodbye Loretta, Tj Dash, Jess A Thought, Rios Beer Run, Jalepeno Country and C R B Bat completed the field.
