SELMA, TX—AUGUST 3, 2019—Dtl Samureye, under jockey Francisco Calderon, was "much the best" Saturday night while defeating Cat Scratch Dash by 1-¾ lengths in the $15,000 Colors of the Wind Paint & Appaloosa Stakes at Retama Park.

Saddled by trainer Josue Ponce, Dtl Samureye completed the 350 yards in :17.951 seconds, an 89 speed index into a 12 mph headwind, to pick up the winners' purse valued at $8,250.

Almada Racing owns the son of Sf Royal Quick Flash out of Eysa Savvy Queen by Mr Eye Opener(QH). Bred by Dean and Tonya Lester, Dtl Samureye has compiled a (17) 11-3-0 record and earned $143,699.

Juan Diaz, Jr. saddled runner-up Cat Scratch Dash for owner Melissa Dehoyous. Richard Joneson bred the son of Country Quick Dash in Oklahoma from the Apollo (TB) mare Cat Scratch Fefurr. He earned $2,250 to bring his earnings mark to $94,410. Victor Urieta, Jr. was riding.

A neck back in third, Charles Leggett's Cl Loaded Flash earned $1,500 under jockey Claudio Aguilar. Cody McDaniel trains the Oklahoma-bred son of Cocked An Loaded from the Special Contender mare Contenders Flash. Wade Leggett is the co-breeder with owner Charles.

Hotwired Daddy, Wicked Indian, Wiredup, Tres Miracles, Indestructibull Carefully Wired and Hurricane O J completed the field
