Valiant Virgo Tops Wyoming QH Futurity Trials on Sunday

EVANSTON, WY—AUGUST 4, 2019—Bouncing off a troubled effort in the $99,681 Cowboy State Futurity on June 29, Valiant Virgo got the nod over Bp Southern Suzie on Sunday to get the top qualifying time for the Wyoming Downs QH Futurity.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from 29 two-year-old's who participated in four trials today, will return to Wyoming Downs on Sunday, August 18 to vie for the winner's share of a $10,000-added purse going 350 yards.

Ridden by jockey Oscar Cervantes, Valiant Virgo completed the 350 yard course in :17.619 seconds, equaling a 95 speed index into a 3 mph crosswind. It was the first win five starts this season for the son of champion sire Valiant Hero.

Trainer Jay Pitcher conditions the Oklahoma-bred gelding for owners Kelly and Kyle Cook. Bollenbach Farms LP bred Valiant Virgo from the Hot As Hell mare Hot As Diamonds.

Bp Southern Suzie was a neck behind the fastest qualifier, with two lengths back to the field, for trainer Josh Taylor. She posted the second fastest time of :17.667 seconds, a 94 speed index.

Fourth in the aforementioned Cowboy State Futurity in her last start, Elliot Bachicha, Jr. was aboard the Corona Cartel filly for owner Jerry D. Chapman. Bill Price bred Bp Southern Suzie in Oklahoma from the First Down Dash mare Bp Down South.

Hotfoot Hero, another 2-year-old by Valiant Hero, posted a third fastest clocking of :17.833 seconds following a two-length victory in the closing trial under jockey Uriel Dominguez.

Glade Van Tassell saddled the bay filly to her first career win in four starts for owner Gary Laramie. John Andreini bred Hotfoot Hero in California from the Royal Quick Dash mare Endless Delight.

Van Tassel, Laramie and jockey Cordarelton Benn had just teamed to win the third trial with Endless Enchantment, a half-sister to Hotfoot Hero by Carters Cartel.

Also bred in California by Andreini from Endless Delight, Endless Enchantment stopped the clock in :17.892 seconds to record the fourth fastest qualifying time. The brown filly qualified for the South Valley Futurity at Laurel Brown in June.
