Victorious Cartel Perfect 3-for-3 After Mile High Futurity Win

AURORA, CO—AUGUST 10, 2019—Victorious Cartel kept his record a perfect 3-for-3 after splashing home a three-quarter length winner over Beeline Dash in the $99,065 Mile High Futurity Sunday afternoon at Arapahoe Park.

Ridden by jockey Alfredo Triana, Jr., Victorious Cartel raced over the sloppy (sealed) racecourse in :19.590 seconds, equaling a 101 speed index. He pocketed $36,626 for today's effort, bringing his bankroll total to just over $41,000.

Trainer Miguel Pena saddled the son of current year leading 2-year-old sire Favorite Cartel for owner Noe Cano. Cano purchased the California bred gelding for $14,000 at the Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale last October in Cypress. Hub City Farms LLC bred Victorious Cartel from the A Dash Of Beduino mare Princess Chloe.

Runner-up Beeline Dash races for owner Jaime Martinez and trainer Gustavo Rios. Ramiro Garcia had the riding call aboard the Tempting Dash gelding out of Night Lines by Strawfly Special.

Bred in California by Paragon Farms LLC, Beeline Dash entered the race off two wins in starts after posting the second fastest qualifying time in the July 26 trials. He earned $19,813 to boost his earnings total to $33,433.

Coronado Star, a colt by leading second-crop sire Coronado Cartel, finished a neck back in third-place for owner Bruno Guerrero-Espinoza. Jockey Armando Ramirez had the riding call aboard the Texas-bred colt for trainer Hipolito Michel-Valverde. Bred by Patsy and Claude Owen, from the Apollitical Jess mare Summer Star, Coronado Star earned $11,888.

La Reina Madre, Vf First Brave Stan, Legendary Find, Winn It, Corona Kicker, Intocable and Paint Can completed the field.

Sweet Twisted Tea(#6) holds off Marfilmio (#1) and Tyson Gay (#2) in the $19,150 RMQHA Championship Saturday afternoon at Arapahoe Park.
