CLAREMORE, OK—NOVEMBER 9, 2019—Uncle Eds Idea (8-1) broke well under jockey Jose Vega then held off post-time favorite Mr Dillard to win the win the $252,876 Black Gold 440 Championship Futurity by neck Saturday afternoon at Will Rogers Downs.
Saddled by trainer Tammy Kay Johnson, Uncle Eds Idea completed the 440 yards in :21.462 seconds, equaling a 110 speed index into a 7 mph crosswind. It was the fourth career win in seven starts for the son of multiple stakes sire Dominyun.
An Oklahoma homebred, from the Mr Eye Opener mare Mystical Eye, Uncle Eds Idea races for owner-breeders Robert and Stacey Martin. The $101,150 winners' purse increased the sorrel geldings earnings total to $151,017. He was also fourth in the Black Gold 350 Championship Futurity at Will Rogers in September.
Jess My Hocks, also a by a leading first-crop sire Kiss My Hocks, finished one-length back to earn $27,816 for third. Michelle Hurdle conditions the Oklahoma homebred for owner-breeder Tom and Kathleen McNally. Out of the Take Off Jess mare Jess Charlena, Jess My Hocks has earned $39,535.
Uncle Eds Idea returned $17.60 to win, $640 to place and $4.20 to show. The 4-8 $2 Exacta paid $55.60.
Might Oh 5, Ew Train On Fire, Love Is Everything, Cartel King, Lovely Cuvee, Im Fearless and One Dashing Hero completed the Black Gold Futurity field.
