Brockmire Breaks Gets First Win In Turf Paradise Maiden Stake

PHOENIX, AZ—JANUARY 26, 2020—Brockmire held off I Roll Like That by a neck to get his first win on Sunday in the $10,100 Turf Paradise Maiden Stake (not black type) at Turf Paradise Racetrack.

Ridden by jockey Jorge Bourdieu, Brockmire rolled over the 300 yards in :15.656 seconds, equaling a 91 speed index. It was the first win in six career starts for the son of multiple stakes sire Texas Icon.

Matthew M. Fales conditions the 3-year-old gelding for owner-breeder's Ralph and Carolyn Fales. Out of the Leaving Memories mare A Mere Formality, Brockmire has compiled a (6) 1-1-1 record and used today's $5,959 winners' purse to boost his earnings total to $7,149.

Runner-up I Roll Like That picked up $1,919 for his second-place effort. Winless in six starts, the daughter of world champion sire FDD Dynasty races for owner-breeders Mary and John Allred. John also conditions the bay filly out of Jess Joyner by Feature Mr Jess. She has earned $6,065.

Favorite Flight, owned-and-trained by Jesus Torres-Casas, finished 1-˝ lengths back in third under jockey Luis Valenzuela. In tight at the start, the son of leading sire Favorite Cartel was bred in California, by Steve D. Burns, from the Separatist mare Separate Flight. Third in the AQRA-Turf Paradise Open Quarter Horse Futurity in December, Favorite Flight has banked $5,444.

Completing the Turf Paradise Maiden Stake field were Perfect Moves, Papis Baby, Dash N Carter, Pcr Flashin The Cash, Hez Our Joy, Scandalous Dasher and Apollitical Run.
