Sc Divas Cartel Man Wins Los Alamitos' First Race For 2-Year-Olds

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—APRIL 5, 2020, 2020—Owned and bred by Reliance Ranches LLC, SC Divas Cartel Man cruised to a ¾ length victory in the first race for 2-year-olds of the meet on Sunday at Los Alamitos.

Ridden by Oscar Peinado for trainer Mike Robbins, SC Divas Cartel Man led from start to finish 300 yards in :15.712 as the 3-1 third choice in the wagering.

The gelding by the legendary stallion Corona Cartel is out of the 2010 champion mare Spit Curl Diva, who earned $829,353 during a racing career that included Grade 1 victories in the Refrigerator Handicap and the Merial Distaff Challenge. Spit Curl Divas is the dam of local stakes winners SC Vapor Trail and Stevie B First Cash and stakes finalists SC Coronada and SC Moneymaker.

SC Divas Cartel Man came into this race after posting the second fastest of 36 gate drills on February 25. His workmate that morning was Eagle Empire, who recorded the morning’s fastest time. SC Divas Cartel Man is eligible to race in the major futurities at Los Alamitos including the Golden State Million Futurity and Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity.

Strange Fellow, Fly The Coup, BF Outfoosed, El Katie Cartel, Ivans Streakin Bye and Suite Encounter completed the field.
