AURORA, CO—JULY 15, 2020—The royally-bred Ganster Americano picked up his second consecutive win at Arapahoe Park today when he defeated Only Business by half-a-length in the $26,500 HV Ranch Stake Allowance (not black type).
Ridden by jockey Jhaciel Soto, Ganster Americano completed the 350 yards in :19.634 seconds, equaling a 93 speed index into a 6 mph weekend. The winners' purse valued at $19,875 boosted the son of #2 all-time leading sire Corona Cartel's earnings to $96,257.
Trainer Jose Antonio Moreno saddled the gray gelding to his fifth career win in 20 starts for owner Jan Properties Management LLC. M. Gonzalez/Balgo Racing Team LLC bred the 4-year-old in California from Matabari, a Grade 1 AQHA Racing Champion daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry.
Ganster Americano entered the race off a win in the American Flyer Stakes at Arapahoe in his last start June 10. He was also a finalist in the Grade 3 West Texas Derby last year.
Marfilmio, a 5-year-old son of champion sire Ivory James, finished another half-length back for owner Hugo Barron Sierra. Alejandro Luna had the riding call aboard the stakes-placed Texas-bred for trainer Jose Manuel Barron. Bred by Bobby D. Cox, from the Mr Jess Perry mare Sinuous, Marfilmio earned $2,650 to bring his bankroll total to $72,680.
