Hocks Fast Wagon Fastest In Pocatello Downs Non Winners of 2 Stakes Trials

POCATELLO, ID—JULY 15, 2020-Hocks Fast Wagon got the biggest win of his career when he defeated Crown Apple by a head in the first of two trials for the Pocatello Downs Non Winners of 2 Stakes (not black type) on Wednesday evening.

Under jockey Jesus Canales, the 3-year-old son of a leading second-crop sire Kiss My Hocks, went wire-to-wire while stopping the timer in :17.566 seconds, equaling a 97 speed index and setting the top quaffing mark for the $10,000-added final.

The 10 qualifiers will return to Pocatello Downs on Friday, July 31st to vie for the winner's share of the purse. Racing for RTM Stables LLC, Robin Dunn and Ben McKinney, Hocks Fast Wagon is conditioned by Mark Hanson.

The bay colt has compiled a (10) 2-2-2 record and earned $7,485. He was a finalist in the John Deere Pocatello Juvenile Challenge, Beehive Futurity and Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at 2. Joe M. Flores bred Hocks That Wagon in Texas from the Pyc Paint Your Wagon mare One Fast Wagon.

The top three qualifiers came from the opening trial with Crown Apple recording a :17.586 and Missus Badger a :17.596 in a blanket-finish.

Furry Look, a 3-year-old daughter of multiple stakes sire Furyofthewind, defeated Trumpster by a nose in the second trial to record the fourth fastest clocking of :17.633 seconds, a 95 speed index.

Jockey Jesus Valenzuela rode the sorrel filly for owner-breeders Jose Adrian and Carolyn Aleman. Ricardo Castillo saddled Furry Look to her second straight win. Out of the Righteous Brother mare Righteous Look, the Utah-bred was a finalist in the KVN Corona Derby in May and the Beehive Futurity last year. She has earned $7,641.
