Vvr Corona Cowboy Narrow Winner of Second Division of Wyoming Stallion Futurity

Vvr Corona Cowboy Narrow Winner of Second Division of Wyoming Stallion Futurity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 19, 2020—In the second division of the $15,000 Wyoming Stallion Futurity at Sweetwater, Vvr Corona Cowboy and Eyesa Special Digger dueled throughout the race until Vvr Corona Cowboy pulled clear by a neck. Four lengths separated the leaders from the rest of the field.

Vvr Corona Cowboy ($5.40) finished the 300-yard stake in :15.642 and earned a 93 speed index for trainer Jorge Garfias with Jesus Valenzuela aboard. Carter Garfias owns the 2-year-old colt, who was bred in Wyoming by Mike Lipp.

Vvr Corona Cowboy is by Coronas Velvet, out of Proud Caption, by Proudest Effort. He is now one for four lifetime and has only finished out of the money once. In August, he qualified to the Wyoming Downs Futurity.

Second-place finisher Eyesa Special Digger was ridden by Oscar Cervantes for trainer Jesse Villegas. Owned and bred by Broken Bones Cattle Company, the gelding is sired by Eyesa Special Slim, out of Lil Shameless Angel, by First N Six.

Eyesa Special Digger won his trial for the Rock Springs Wyoming Bred Futurity and finished third in the final. Prior to that, he qualified to the Ron Cook Futurity.

Dicey Seduction led the remainder of the field to finish third. Uriel Dominguez had the call for trainer Uriel Dominguez, Sr. and owner Calli Vantassell.

Dicey Seduction was bred in Wyoming by Gary Laramie. The filly is by Our Dicey FFM and is out of Seduce, by Hawkinson. Saturday’s futurity was her first stakes appearance.

Completing the field were Onemobud, Eyesa Special Ocie and Docs Fast Kick. Sixs Cb Maverick was scratched.
