GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 13, 2020—Ss Classyjess, under jockey Juan Garcia, held off a late charge from Mr Tereso to win the $100,000 Nevill Stakes by a nose Saturday night at Lone Star Park.
It was the third consecutive stakes win for the 4-year-old daughter of multiple stakes sire Rock Solid Jess. Trainer Jose Carrizales saddled the gray filly to her ninth career win (fifth in 2020) and the $55,000 Nevill winner's purse boosted her bankroll total to over $181,000.
"This is the first time we've won something like this," said Carrizales. "We're just hoping it keeps coming like this."
Racing for owner Edgar Rosales, SS Classyjess completed the 350 yards in :17.591 seconds, equaling a 97 speed index into a. 6 mph crosswind. She won the Live Oak Stakes and the Miss Retama Stakes over the summer at Retama Park.
Ronnie Stewart and Double S Farm bred SS Classyjess in Texas from the Royal Shake Em mare High Class Broad.

Winner of last year's Gillespie County Fair Futurity, the bay gelding was also finished second in the Evangeline Downs Futurity(G2) and was a finalist in the Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) last year. Jockey Luis Vivanco had riding call on the $222,186, earner.
A neck back in the blanket-finish was Rogelio Marquez, Jr.'s American Hussle. A finalist in the both the All American Derby(G1) and Texas Classic Derby(G1) last season, the son of leading sire Apollitical Jess boosted his bankroll to $131,132 after pocketing $10,000 in the Nevill.
Jesus Marquez named Raul Ramirez, Jr. to ride the bay colt out of Charming Cartel by Corona Cartel. Tyler Graham and Namgis OH's LLC is the breeder.
Easy Blinkers, Clever Seis Cartel, Mia Favoritta, Serendipity Rocks, This Is A Deal Too, New News and Fantasticazoom Jr completed the field.
Live racing resumes tomorrow, Sunday, September 20. Gates open at 5 p.m. First Race post time is 6:05 p.m. Featured are the Grade 3, Texas Arabian Oaks and the Grade 3, Texas Arabia Derby.
