LOS ALAMITOS, CA—SEPTEMBER 19, 2020—Walker Family Trust's Zoomin For Spuds scored his 12th career stakes victory at Los Alamitos following a dominant performance in the $15,000 Catchmeinyourdreams Handicap here on Saturday night.

Facing a field of stakes winners, the 7-year-old superstar Zoomin For Spuds did not mess around, as he left the gate perfectly from post number three and cruised throughout on the way to a 1-˝ length victory as the even money favorite over Grade 1 Brad McKinzie Los Alamitos Winter Championship winner Bos Time Machine. Making only his second start of the year,

Zoomin For Spuds covered the 330 yards in a time of :16.459 to give him the meet's fastest time at this distance. Jose Nicasio piloted the son of Zoomin For Bux for trainer Monty Arrossa.

Bred in Idaho by the late Jim Walker, Zoomin For Spuds tied champions A Ransom and Moonist for sixth place all-time at Los Alamitos with 12 career stakes wins each. The five horses above them are Charger Bar and Kaweah Bar with 18 stakes win each, Sign Of Lanty with 16, Griswold with 14 and Flight 109 with 13.

"I am so thankful for JoAn Walker and the Walker family for continuing to give me the opportunity to train Zoomin For Spuds," Monty Arrossa said. "They've continued Jim Walker's legacy. They just texted me and said, 'We know Jim is smiling down from heaven.' I am pretty proud of the horse. It is amazing. He is a horse of a lifetime. He is family. I look at him every day. I have seen him just about about every day of his life. He is seven this year. I often worried and would talk to Jim about it a lot and say 'Geez, these younger horses are coming up and you never know how many good races he has. Jim would always assure me, 'Well, you'll know. He'll tell you and you'll know. We watch for signs, but he's been strong in his workouts and in the Go Man Go Handicap (on August 30) he ran a tremendous race off an eight-month layoff. He came back so good after that. We weren't looking at this race, but he came back so good that we thought we should just run him here. He likes to run. It was a great performance."

Zoomin For Spuds, who made his 2020 debut by running third in the Go Man Go, improved his lifetime record to 15 wins in 44 starts. An AQHA Supreme Racehorse and the winner of the 2016 Champion of Champions, Zoomin For Spuds has finished in the money 36 of his career outings.

With his earnings of $8,250 in the Catchmeinyourdreams, his career bankroll is now at $827,421. The next big race for older horses here is the Robert Boniface Los Alamitos Invitational Championship on October 11, but Arrossa is not sure if Zoomin For Spuds will make an appearance in that 440-yard race.

"I don't know," Arrossa said. "We're just going to take it easy with him. We may just wait until the Z. Wayne Griffin Trials (on November 15). We'll just play it by ear with him. He looked strong tonight. He was only going 330. The Championship is 440. We'll see how it comes back. We'll give him a chance to freshen up and we'll take it from there."

Dee and Gary Hoovestal's Bos Time Machine, who had not raced since his 12-1 upset win in the Brad McKinzie Winter Championship on February 9, surely needed the race after being off for seven months. Ridden by Jesus Rios Ayala for trainer Paul Jones, the son of multiple stakes sire Bodacious Dash earned $3,375 for running second.

Ruth Barbour, Colten O'Dell and Wendy O'Dell's Tac Me Up finished third for trainer Chris O'Dell and jockey Eduardo Nicasio.

Kissed By An Eagle and Golden Boy Gonza completed the field.
