Our Darling Corona Fastest Qualifier In Arizona Downs Quarter Horse Maiden Stakes Trials

PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ—JUNE 30, 2021—In her first career start, 3-year-old Our Darling Corona defeated Soverynne by a neck to get the fastest qualifying time in the Arizona Downs Quarter Horse Maiden Stakes (not black type) Wednesday afternoon at Arizona Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return Tuesday July 20th to vie for the winner's share of a $17,500-est. purse going 250 yards.

Our Darling Corona drifted out under jockey Martin Osuna while completing the 250 yard task in :13.396 seconds, equaling a 91 speed index. It was the first start for the daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel from the Separatist mare Docs Card. This is the family of AQHA Racing Champion Filly Secret Card.

Trainer Jesus Torres-Casas saddled the brown filly for owner Greg Torgerson. Darling Farms and Jaime Gomez bred One Darling Corona in California.

Sunbrook Sage, under jockey Emilio Tapia, dueled Chocolate Wagon to a head win in the second trial to get the fourth fastest time of :18.116 seconds. It was the first win in 14 starts for the 5-year-old son of leading sire First Down Dash from the Mr Eye Opener mare Sunbrook Lane.

Armando Castellanos saddled the gray gelding for owner Rene Carreon. South Valley Large Animal Clinic bred Sunbrook Sage in Utah .
