Chasin Harm Upsets Grande Prairie Sprint Stakes

GRANDE PRAIRIE, AB—JULY 10, 2021—Chasin Harm (12-5) got up at the wire to defeat post-time favorite Getit Hot by a head in the $7,322(US) Grande Prairie Sprint Stakes (not black type) on Saturday at Evergreen Park.

Under jockey Alan Rizo, Chasin Harm completed the 110 yards in :7.460 seconds into a 20 mph crosswind. It was the second career win in 10 starts for the 5-year-old son of multiple stakes sire Hawkinson.

Cody Bear trains the Utah-bred gelding for owner Della Cross Child. Bred by Reed Pierson, from the Lanes Leinster mare YR Brown Lucy, Chasin Harm picked up $3,833(US) to bring his earnings mark to $24,368.

Multiple stakes winner Getit Hot earned $1,880(US) for second. William H. Leech conditions the son of Walk Thru Fire for owner Charles G. Stojan. Martha Wells bred the $73,469 earners in California from the Separatist mare Getit Together. Richard Moreno had the riding call.

Voleeta, a Texas bred daughter of All American Futurity(G1) sire Volcom, finished three-quarters back to earn $868(US) for third. Misael Moreno named jockey Alfredo Amadro to ride the 4-year-old filly for owner Issak Fehr. P.K. Thomas bred Voleeta from the Mr Jess Perry mare Jessita. She has earned $14562 in 14 career starts.

Chasin Harm returned $25.80 to win, $4.50 to place and $2.60 to show.

Light Of Hope and Halos Sign completed the field.
