GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALB—AUGUST 21, 2021—Bouncing off a third-place effort in the August 7th trials, Obsessed Bug was game half-length winner over Destello de Luna in the $16,916(US) Sales Stakes Futurity at Evergreen Park Saturday. Fastest qualifier Rm Risky Business was a neck back to get third.

Under jockey Corrine Andros, Obsessed Bug completed the 300 yards in :16.259 seconds into a 15 mph crosswind. It was the second win four starts for the Alberta-bred daughter of Obsessed With Corona. She earned $7,613(US) for the effort.

Owner Travis Reay paid $9,500 for Obsessed Bug at the 2020 AQHRA Canada QH Cup Yearling Sale. Trainer William Leech saddled the winner out of the multiple stakes producing Shazoom mare Paulina Bug. Ralph Danard is the breeder. Second in the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity two races back, Obsessed Bug has earned $19,291.

Also trained by Leech, runner-up Destello de Luna earned $3,384(US) for owner's Jane Leech and Haley Moreno. Ken McFarlane bred the Lethal N First gelding from the Toast To Dash mare A Mere Toast. Destello de Luna is a $4,400 AQHRA Canada QH Cup Yearling Sale graduate. Ricardo Moreno had the riding call.

Fastest qualifier Rm Risky Business picked up $2,030(US) for finishing third. Buckey Stockwell saddled the Cowboy 109 filly for owner WT Ranch. Robert McCutcheon bred the brown filly form the Mighty Invictus mare Miss Invictus Eh. Rm Risky Business was a $2,000 repurchase in the 2020 AQHRA Canada QH Cup Yearling Sale. Larris Allen had the riding assignment.

First Authority, Timbers Moon, Top Shelf 109, Private Cruise and Obsessive Gambler completed the field.
