Docs Dusty Cartel Wins Third Stakes This Year, Scores in Oklahoma Horsemen's Mystery Futurity

CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 26, 2021—Speedhorse Futurity(G3) winner Docs Dusty Cartel dug in late to pick up his third stakes win of the year in Sunday's $194,504 Oklahoma Horsemen's Association Mystery Futurity at Will Rogers Downs.

Despite finishing second in his September 11th trial Docs Dusty Cartel went off as the posttime favorite today and did not disappoint racing fans.

Under jockey Rolando Raudales, the son of multiple stakes sire Coronado Cartel completed the 350 yards in :17.813 seconds, a 91 speed index into a 10 mph crosswind, defeating B Leaving by a neck. It was the fifth win in seven starts this year for the Stacey Capps trainee.

The Oklahoma homebred races for owner-breeder Dusty Rose Ranch LLC. Out of the Okey Dokey Dale mare Docs Dusty Dale, Docs Duty Cartel also won the FL Lady Bug Stakes(RG3) at Remington Park in May. The Mystery winner's purse valued at $78,302 boosted the bay colt's earnings total to $220,798.

Runner-up B Leaving led early under jockey Ruben Castro but was caught at the wire, earning $35,711 for second. Eddie D. Willis conditions the daughter of Valiant Hero for The Estate of Homer A Hill.

The Oklahoma homebred is out of Jess B Mighty by Mr Jess Perry. B Leaving broke her maiden in the Mystery Futurity trials following a string of second-place efforts in trials at Remington Park and Ruidoso Downs early this year. With one win and five seconds in seven starts, B Leaving has earned just under $50,000 this year.

Mystic Lake Northlands Juvenile winner Rate Me A Lady finished one-length back to earn $23,641 for third. Jason Olmstead trains the High Rate Of Return Oklahoma homebred for owner-breeder Jo Rice. Out of the Shazoom mare This Lady Zoom, Rate Me A Lady has banked $40,492 in seven starts this year.

Im A Fancee Chik and Nash Ride dead-heated for fourth. Magnanni, Fancy Man Kan, Tres Elegance, Chuggin Corona and Suzy de Capi completed the field.
