Queen For Cash, ridden by Roman Cruz, wins $15,800 Sequoyah Stakes at Will Rogers Downs on Monday afternoon with daylight to spare

CLAREMORE, OK–SEPTEMBER 26, 2022–Queen For Cash outshined the competition with plenty of daylight in between in the $15,800 Sequoyah Stakes at Will Rogers Downs on Monday afternoon. The 870-yard distance race was held for three-year-old and up Paints and Appaloosas.

Ridden by Roman Cruz, Queen For Cash (ApHC) was the heavy favorite to win at post-time. She broke sharply from the one hole and was a length ahead at the start. After drawing off from the pack and making her way around the stretch, she crossed the finish line nine-lengths ahead of Mr Apollo Blue and jockey Daniel Torres in :45.878 seconds clocking a 95 speed index.

Among her many accolades, Queen For Cash is the #1 leading money earning Appaloosa in 2022. The Sequoyah is her second stakes win of the season, including the $33,550 Mister Lewie Memorial (G1) at Remington Park in which she was the only Appaloosa on the field. 

Queen For Cash has 6 career wins and has competed in 11 stakes competitions with career earnings of $102,977. She is the daughter of Hes Relentless (AQHA) who is currently the #1 leading sire of money earning Appaloosas.

Owned and bred by Gary Vaughan, who is the #3 leading breeder of Appaloosas in 2022, Queen For Cash is out of Ivory Queen by Ivory James.

Mr Apollo Blue (ApHC) who rivals Queen For Cash as the #2 leading money earning Appaloosa in 2022 just wasn’t a match at this distance for the 4-year-old filly. The son of Jess Louisiana Blue dueled with the pack crossing the wire in second place just a neck ahead of Giorgis Prize and his rider L. Martinez. 

Owned and trained by Michael Moss, Mr Apollo Blue just broke his maiden earlier this year at Remington Park and came in second in the Spots and Dots at Fair Meadows in July. The 3-year-old colt has two career wins with $24,941 in earnings. Bred by Ronna Lively of Oklahoma, Mr Apollo Blue is out of Allies Apollo by Apollo (TB).

Third place finisher Giorgis Prize (ApHC) has yet to win a stakes for owner/breeder Ralph Hartline of Idaho, but has competed in nine stakes races, five of which earned blacktype status. 

Trained by Raymond Vargas, the 4-year-old daughter of Giorgino has earned $29,783 in lifetime earnings and is out of Eye On The Prize by Eyesastrawfly.

Placing fourth in the lineup was Wl Alley Cat, under Andre Samaniego and Jnl Water To Wine, guided by Gonzalo Gutierrez came in fifth.
